introduction to perioral dermatitis

Ever since I was a little girl, around 6 or 7, I've started having these red areas in my face, mainly around my nose and on my chin, and they would flare up whenever I was under great pressure. This affected my self esteem a whole lot, and it even kept me from going to school and going out with my friends. It wasn't until it got really bad that I actually decided to seek medical counseling about it. My mom made an appointment with the dermatologist office, and the cause of my "disfigured face" was perioral dermatitis.

Perioral dermatitis is a common facial skin problem that mainly affects women. No one really knows exactly what causes it, but there are some known triggers. To name a few you have; face creams, face wash, makeup and sunscreens containing Sodium Laureth Sulfate and Isopropyl Myristate. The condition is also worsened by fluorinated toothpaste, topical steroid creams and oral contraceptives. To make it even worse, even the weather affects it, strong wind or harsh sunlight will make you flare up in no time.
For me, all of the above including stress triggers it. It's a bitch to live with, so take good care of your skin before this happens to you.

Bad news are, once you've got it, you have it for life. It is not contagious, that must be said. Good news are there are several ways to keep it in check. You can see a dermatologist and be prescribed Tetracycline, which is an antibiotic to treat infections in the skin, acne and perioral dermatitis. That will clear up your skin and then it's up to you to keep it from coming back. I'm going to make it easier by just referring to perioral dermatitis as PD. I will keep this blog updated with PD-friendly products, information and tips on how to manage it.

insomnia & level-up

I don't think I have ever felt so let down, by anyone. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it, but I can't figure it out. There's this one person in your life who means so much to you, you would do anything not to lose them. But at some point this becomes inevitable.
So I'm back on my medication and I'm having difficulty sleeping again. Got to love those side effects, hm? (ノ `Д´)ノ~┻━┻
Kind of makes me want to bash my head against a wall.

So, on Saturday the 17th of March I leveled up to level eighteen! (☞゚∀゚)☞ my dear girlfriend got me over 9000 presents, and I loved every single one of them. She is amazing. Fucking hell. Am I lucky or what?

Look at her! Isn't she adorable? (;゜0゜)

delicious

I impulsively took the bus to town today, to buy some tea. I'm making progress. I was planning on sleeping, but instead I had sushi with a friend, and bought lots and lots of delicious tea. (ˆڡˆ)
celestial seasonings / red safari spice
                  celestial seasonings / lemon zinger
celestial seasonings / cinnamon apple spice

Today has been tiring. I went to school, and as usual my taxi was late. And of course they don't even give us a heads up,
I could have had a nice fucking breakfast to provide me energy for the rest of the day. That's how late it was. If I had only known (ノ `Д´)ノ~┻━┻ When I arrived at school some dramafags were setting up for a concert. Seriously, no. Shut. the. fuck. up. I spent most of my time reading the dictionary and taking notes, writing down pretty words. Unfortunately those hours I spent reading, actually learning something, didn't count. They wrote me down as absent for the whole day, because I was supposed to help clean the shop. Fuk dat shit. ヽ(o`皿′o)ノ That won't teach me anything.

feline behavior; bonding

Today is Caturday! ("•˘з˘•) I've decided to start studying feline behavior, and I might as well share my knowledge. I'm always looking for new ways to successfully bond with my cats, we can never be too close. (っ˘з(˘.˘ )♥
Some cats are not as easy to bond with, though. For example cats adopted from animal shelters, they might be anxious as a result of abuse or neglect. While some cats grow aggressive from living in an unstable household. Cats need a calm and unchanging environment with as little stress as possible.

Our feline companions are predators, which means they have a lot of energy. The best way to blow off some steam, is to play! (●`з´●) Playing is in fact very healthy for your cat; if your cat is stressed, playing helps calm the cat, playing also helps build up a cats confidence. Playing decreases aggression and builds trust, and last but not least it helps the cat maintain a healthy weight.
"My cat doesn't want to play!" ヽ(o`皿′o)ノ
If your cat doesn't seem interested in playing at all, then you are probably doing it wrong and need a new approach. Cats are hunters, they stalk their prey, chase it. What kind of prey dangles in front of the predator? ╮(╯_╰")╭ It's way too easy, your cat needs a challenge. What you need to do is make the prey "come to life" and make it appear as if it is terrified of your cat. Use a pole with a toy attached on a string, move it around a little bit, "bring it to life". Your cat gets curious, thinking this might be a fun hunt. (;゜0゜)Try to make the toy look like a real prey, try mimicking a birds movements! After the hunt, give your cat praise and food, maybe even a little treat! (~ ̄▽ ̄)ノ

Try setting up a schedule and play every day at the same time, so that the cat knows when to expect a hunt. This will definitely strengthen your bond! Remember; give your cat a challenge.

The truth is not what you know. It's what you believe.

{2009 DRAMA/ROMANCE, starring Alicja Bachleda and Colin Farrell}

This movie is easily on my top5-list. Not only did the main actors fall in love on the set, they got married, and had a child together. That is kind of cute, amirite? (◡‿◡✿)
I absolutely adore Alicja, she is stunningly beautiful and an amazing actor. Colin Farrell isn't too bad either. (`ー´)I actually watched this movie coincidentally, but I'm really glad I didn't change the channel.

The movie starts out at sea, there's a man in a boat, a fisherman. He appears to be quite miserable as he pulls up his net. But there is something different this time, there isn't fish in it. There's a woman in it. She calls herself Ondine, and she does not wish to be seen by anyone. Syracuse, the fisherman, let's her hide in an isolated cottage that used to be his mother's. As the movie goes on, we learn that Syracuse has a daughter named Annie, whose curiosity leads to discovering Ondine in the old cottage. They immediately establish a strong bond. Annie is convinced Ondine is a selkie, a mythical seal from Irish mythology. Both Annie and Syracuse are beginning to believe this fairytale, but Ondine carries a secret that threatens to shatter everything they have built together.
Although this movie might seem a bit slow for some, the scenery, soundtrack and the overall feel of the movie makes up for it. The dialogue is well written and beautifully acted. This film is very easy to follow, and it's great for a lonely afternoon. (^▽^)
I never knew Ireland was such a beautiful place before watching this. I definitely recommend watching it.
